Yayoi Kumata
My background is a B.S.N. from the College of Nursing at Rutgers University in Nursing/Psychology. I have been teaching/tutoring various subjects in the sciences and mathematics for over 5 years at high school and collegiate levels. I have taught sciences for undergraduate and graduate programs at Rutgers University, Drexel College of Medicine, and The Commonwealth Medical College. I am patient and cater to my students’ needs for understanding the concepts rather than focusing on just solving the problem.
My passion is to help students of all ages (mostly high school and college level) in mathematics and the sciences with as specific focus in the following subjects: biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, math subjects through calculus (including pre-calculus, trigonometry, and algebra), AP tests (biology, chemistry, physics), SATII subject tests (biology E/M, chemistry, physics, math level 1 & 2), SAT, ACT, DAT and MCAT (my passion).
I have previously been an MCAT, GRE, SAT, and ACT instructor for The Princeton Review where I was awarded the “Top MCAT Instructor Award” and the “Top Grad Instructor Award” for the East coast region. My goal is to break down complicated concepts for my students to ensure they have a deep understanding of the material. I look forward to working with each and every student and I take pride in mentoring and guiding students through these difficult courses and tests to help the students reach their goals.”
Yayoi 's Reviews
Yayoi is an excellent MCAT tutor who has mastered all topics covered by the exam and has extensive knowledge about everything it tests and how. She breaks down complicated topics in physics and chemistry to the essential basics that connect them. If you wish to achieve a high score on the MCAT, then trust Yayoi to guide you on the marathon of studying necessary for this exam. She will help you identify and minimize your weaknesses and also reinforce and maximize your strengths.
She makes it clear on the first day that most of the time spent with her is “passive” studying and that “active” studying is necessary to obtain the score increases you desire. A typical session includes in-depth review of any topic I feel I am struggling on, followed by reviewing any questions from the previous days “active” studying. Her review of topics are in-depth and she requires no books to recall any topics, she has everything memorized.
There is no topic that Yayoi cannot help you with, she understands everything tested by the MCAT and helps you make sure there are no glaring weaknesses in your knowledge. I highly recommend her to any student who wishes to obtain a high score.
Yayoi has helped me tremendously with my upper level Physics course. With her help I was able to get back on track and finish the course successfully. She explained the concepts that I had trouble with with great clarity and made it possible for me to understand the material I was working on. I found her background in the sciences to be very impressive as she cleared up any confusion I had with a certain topic.
I sought out help from Kevin for my MCAT preparation. I had taken the test once before and had scored poorly, but Kevin was confident that we would be able to get my score up to my desired range. I had always struggled with Math and Physics and this is where Kevin helped me the most. Physics concepts became simpler and I had wished that I had known about Kevin when I was taking these courses in college. Kevin and I systematically tackled every chem and physics topic that was tested on the MCAT and broke down test questions which I previously would never have been able to get right.
For bio, I worked with Yayoi who simplified biochemistry and highlighted important concepts to remember. She also helped me with testing strategies which I was able to apply to the CARS and psych sections as well.
Long story short, with the help of Kevin and Yayoi, I was able to increase my MCAT score by an incredible 16 points and was able to get accepted to my top choice medical schools. Words can’t describe the impact Kevin and Yayoi made on my application. I only wish I had found Fractal sooner!
