DAT Test Prep

Kevin is a great tutor. Not only does he care about his students and their learning, but he is also able to provide support throughout their studying process. He is very patient and takes the time to explain- when something is still unclear, he double checks to ensure it has been clarified. He has great techniques for simplifying otherwise complicated problems, especially in math and chemistry. He still explains the process behind the “long” way to do the problem so it can be understood, but he is able to then provide short cuts to save time.
He is also available and flexible- meaning that you can reach out to him outside the tutoring times and he will respond and provide the necessary help. I highly recommend him and his company with no hesitation whatsoever. He helped me succeed way beyond my goal!

Definitely the place to go if you want to improve and actual understand what you are learning. I originally came for help with organic chem 2, i went from a C to finishing the class with an A. After, i came back for help with studying for the DAT, and they made sure i was ready for the test. Without a doubt this is the place to come to!

I started off using Kevin as a tutor when I got placed into a calculus based physics course when I transferred colleges. It had been a long time since I had taken calculus and he helped me go from failing to getting a B+ in the first semester, and then an A in the second semester! He teaches to all styles of learners. I am a very visual learner and the notes he made for me always made my lecture notes a lot clearer.

I also used Kevin as a tutor for the DAT. I really struggle with standardized tests and general chemistry and he helped me a tremendous amount with both. It took me two attempts to get the score I wanted, but I used “Kevin’s Notes” for general chemistry both times and was able to raise my total science & general chemistry scores by 3 points the second time around.

I would recommend Kevin to anyone trying to conquer a tough science class or a standardized test for health professional schools.

I worked with both Kevin and Yayoi at Fractal Academy over the summer of 2014. They were both extremely helpful in my prep for the Dental Admissions Test. Yayoi worked with me on Biology and really knew her stuff. She would thoroughly explain topics in Biology that I was confused on, while making notes for me to take home so I could study them. Kevin helped me with the math, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and perceptual ability portion of the DAT. One thing that I really liked about Kevin’s teaching style is that he would always ask me what I wanted to work on. This allowed me to really focus on my weak subjects. Also, before I stepped into Fractal Academy, I had no idea how to even approach the perceptual ability portion of the test. On my real DAT, I conquered the perceptual ability! I would highly recommend Fractal Academy for anyone preparing for the DAT! They are the reason I did so well on the DAT, which helped me to become accepted to my dream school, The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.

I worked closely with Kevin and Yayoi for seven weeks to prepare for the DAT during the summer of 2014. Both Kevin and Yayoi are not only brilliant in the sciences, but understand the fundamentals of educating and communicating with their students in a matter that makes learning easy and enjoyable. Kevin explained shortcuts to conquer problems in general and organic chemistry that are needed for high performance on the DAT. Yayoi answered all my biology questions without hesitation and her colorful, textbook like, drawings turn difficult biology concepts only explained in literature into easy to understand visuals. Kevin is the definition of a qualified, brilliant, and experienced tutor. He had worked with me throughout my four years of college covering a variety of subjects including Organic Chemistry, Physics, and College Math. He was also my tutor when preparing to take the Dental Admissions Test. Kevin is not only patient but he explains complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand. I worked with Kevin and Yayoi at Fractal Academy the summer before taking the DAT.  I was in a tight spot since I was taking still taking organic chemistry while starting my DAT prep. I am very self motivated but Yayoi and Kevin honestly helped me with any detail related to the DAT or the classes I was taking. They encouraged me and helped build my confidence with science and math significantly. I couldn’t even try to stump them with any of my questions. Tests in general make me a little anxious and knowing that I could throw any question at them anytime eased much of my anxiety.  After I completed the DAT, (and completely exceeding my expectations) I thought my tutoring days were behind me…. But, I started biochemistry the next semester was so relieved to know that if I needed Kevin or Yayoi they would let me ask them any and all questions I had about the subject.

Ps. I live in California and was skeptical about the time difference and Internet sessions at first but it was flawless. The Skype sessions with the use of an online whiteboard was even better than meeting in person for me (I did all my tutoring in my pajamas!)

Kevin’s expertise is in Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Quantitative and PAT portions of the DAT. Kevin is a very knowledgeable instructor who is adept at teaching specific concepts from general chemistry, organic chemistry, and DAT-level math.
