with Kevin A. - Ph.D. - MIT
I have been working with students in Science and Math for over 15 years. I am passionate about working with students of all ages (middle school through graduate school level programs) – teaching, aiding, mentoring and inspiring students to gain knowledge and confidence in Science and Math. I have a particular passion for mentoring and helping Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental students prepare for the entrance exams necessary to get into medical and dental schools.
I currently tutor Chemistry and Chemistry AP, Organic Chemistry, MCAT, DAT, SAT Math, GRE Math, Physics, Physics AP, Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus and Calculus courses to Middle/High School and College/Graduate students.
I look forward to helping you pass your Chemistry/Physics and Math courses and excel on the MCAT and DAT!
My educational background is a B.S. in Professional Chemistry (Chemistry Major, Math and Physics Minors) from Eastern Michigan University, an M.S. from Michigan State University and a Ph.D.in Organic Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to becoming a full time Mentor/Tutor, I worked 4 years in the Pharmaceutical Business in New Jersey.
My cancellation policy is 12 hours in advance and at this point in time due to high demand – I operate out of our Montclair – New Jersey Fractal Academy office in person. I always try to be flexible and work around your schedule. I also tutor a significant amount via Skype with interactive white board (try it for free for 15 minutes and see who great it works!). I do travel if my schedule permits.

Reviews for Kevin A. - Ph.D. - MIT
“I worked with Kevin a few years ago as I was going through my pre-req course load with the intention of going to chiropractic school. Going through the basic sciences at the time, especially organic chemisty was a very hard and stressful process. I’m not sure I would have gotten through with the grades that I needed without Kevin. Now 2.5 into practice, I can honestly say that if not for Kevin, I may not be where I am today.”
“Kevin truly was my personal trainer during my MCAT preparations. I was pleasantly surprised when the first questions he asked me was “Do you stay physically active?” and “How is your sleep schedule?”. I have to say working out every other day and sticking to a strict sleep and work schedule, as he suggested, played a large role in my success. The majority of my success was the result of his creative tutoring style that showed me the why and how behind complex ideas and formulas in physics, general chemistry, and organic chemistry. I constantly struggled in my chemistry courses at college, but after working with Kevin I was confident in my abilities to approach any chemistry problem because he taught me how to approach and conceptualize a myriad of chemistry questions. The more I learned from Kevin, the more I followed and adapted to his thought process. Soon enough I was seamlessly interweaving concepts between physics, biology, and chemistry. After only two months of working with Kevin, I was confident and calm on the day of my MCAT. I recommend Kevin’s tutoring services to anyone who wants a less stressful and more efficient way to succeed on the MCATs.”
“I worked with Kevin a few years ago. I was an Exercise Science major at the time and taking chemistry II as a pre-req to get into Physical Therapy school. I was struggling to understand chemistry and wanted to get a good grade in the class. Kevin made chemistry make sense for me. My tests and assignments got much easier after working with Kevin. I’m currently working on my last year in PT school. Thanks Kevin!”
“Kevin is the definition of a qualified, brilliant, and experienced tutor. He had worked with me throughout my four years of college covering a variety of subjects including Organic Chemistry, Physics, and College Math. He was also my tutor when preparing to take the Dental Admissions Test. Kevin is not only patient but he explains complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand. He is very professional, caring, and successful in helping his students’ achieve their goals and maintaining good grades. Another important aspect is that Kevin is accommodating and works to coordinate schedules. I was lucky to have Kevin as my tutor and HIGHLY recommend him.”
“We reached out to Kevin when our daughter, a freshman high school student in an honors Physics class, started having grades run the gamut!
We took the typical actions: scrupulously purveyed her homework assignments–she was already handling those well as we found out, reached out to the teacher and then guidance, and finally hawked over every grade. None of that worked. The teacher thought she was bright and interested. Yet, the grades, A, C,D, F. What to do? So Kevin came in mid-semester, assayed her overall knowledge and then worked steadily with her making sure she had competence at every point. At one time they were ahead of the class in review. The final exam came in at a B+–that meant to me she really, really knew what she was doing. Overall grade A. Not JUST a good grade but knowledge that will stay with her for some time!”
